JIGSAW REDESIGN

As a designer, it is important to routinely undergo human factors considerations in existing products to explore the possibility of new innovation.    The Jigsaw Redesign was an independent study reviewing the ergonomic potential of modern jigsaw designs to consider new possibilities for interactive opportunities from prospective users to enhance how they used a jigsaw and possibly increase the range of useable conditions for the tool. After extensive study of existing models, from across the market, reverse engineering of key components, and a series of reconfigured motor designs, a complete CAD model and physical prototype were produced, alongside a design log capturing the entire study, which is available for download (PDF icon) below.
