GUARDIAN DRONES
LAUNCHED IN 2016
THE LUMINOSITY LAB WAS TASKED TO DESIGN A FULLY AUTONOMOUS SECURITY DRONE TO RESPOND TO A CLIENT REQUEST TO IMPROVE RESPONSE TIMES TO EMERGENCY BEACON LOCATIONS ON A LOCAL CAMPUS. PARTNERED WITH AN ENGINEERING TEAM, AS THE ONLY DESIGNER, THIS ORGANIC FORM WAS CONCEPTUALIZED FROM THE GROUND UP TO BE ENTIRELY UNIQUE IN ITS DEVELOPMENT AND FINAL REALIZATION. A SECOND ITERATION WAS PROPOSED AS "SKYWAY" TO ACT A MAINTINANCE DRONE FOR POWER LINES.

WITH AN ENGINEERING TEAM ENSURING OUR FLIGHT AND SENSORY SYSTEMS WERE AT PEAK CAPABILITY, THE BODY WAS REGULARLY CHANGING TO ACCOMMODATE HARDWARE UPDATES
WITH REGULAR REVIEW THE DIMENSIONAL CONSTRAINTS OF HARDWARE AND NECESSARY AERODYNAMIC EFFICIENCY THE BODY WAS DESIGNED IN SOLIDWORKS AND TESTED IN ANSYS.

WHEN A FINAL BODY DESIGN IS DECIDED UPON, THE BODY IS SHELLED, CUT AND RIBBED FOR DISASSEMBLY AND REINFORCEMENT.
GRAPHICS ARE THEN ADDED IN SOLIDWORKS. SEVERAL SERIES OF GRAPHICS ARE DEVELOPED TO GRADUALLY ARRIVE AT THE IDEAL TEMPLATE
TO CREATE THE TEMPLATE EACH FEATURE IS FLATTENED AND TRANSFERRED TO A MASTER SKETCH, WHERE IMPERFECTIONS IN THE GRAPHIC GEOMETRY CAN BE ADDRESSED ON THE MICROSCOPIC LEVEL. AFTERWARD THE SKETCH IS CONVERTED TO VECTOR IN ILLUSTRATOR FOR PRINT.
